Privacy by design

Built private from the start. Here's exactly how.

Reachy is built so we know as little about you as possible. Here is what stays on your phone, what we keep, and why.

YOUR PHONE Everything about your parked car lives here. REACHY One front door. Encrypted. OTHER DRIVERS · THE CITY What the world can see. stays on your phone

Your parked car stays on your phone.

✓Where you parkedYour car's spot, and the places you park often.
✓Your remindersYour phone works out the street-cleaning rules and sets the reminders itself.
✓Your movementThe GPS and motion readings that notice you parked.
✓The mapYour phone downloads the public map for the area around it (about 550 × 420 m): the same file everyone gets, sent without your account.

on your account

What we keep, and why.

iYour accountYour sign-in details (like your email and phone number), your cars, badges and settings.
iYour plate, if you add itOnly to look up your NYC tickets. Never shown to anyone who scans your badge, never in notifications.
iYour historyRequests to move your car and your answers, notifications, tickets found by your plate, and the service history you add.
i"Did you park here?"Your yes or no (never the place), so we can tell how well parking detection works.

when a place leaves your phone

Only these times. Only for that feature.

If it isn't on this list, the app doesn't send a place.

When you parkThe bare spot, with no account, name or device, only to clear a "free" dot there.
Not kept
When you leave a legal spotThe bare spot, a few seconds later, with no account. Other drivers see it on the map.

Looking up an address or a repair shop near youYour position, for that one answer. For shops, our server asks Apple Maps for you about an area of roughly 1 km, so Apple doesn't see who you are.

Scanning someone's badgeThe address where you're blocked goes with that one request. We don't store who you are, unless you choose to leave a phone number for updates.

location "always"

Why Reachy asks for "Always".

So your phone can notice when you park and when you drive off, even with Reachy closed and the phone in your pocket.

on your phone

Used there, not sent to us

The readings are used on your phone to tell that you parked. Reachy keeps no history of them, and they are not sent to us. Only the cases listed above send a place.

your choice

"While Using" works too

Everything else works. You only lose automatic parking detection: tap "I parked here" when you park.

battery, honestly

It uses some

While you move, your phone hands Reachy a reading about every 10 meters, and every second for a moment while you slow down to park. On Android a small notification shows while it watches.

the OBD adapter

What the adapter sees, and what it sends.

It talks only to your phoneOver Bluetooth.
Phone only
It only readsEngine on or off, battery voltage, the check-engine light and its codes, and a health scan at most once a day (VIN, fuel level, mileage). A test blocks every command that could change something in your car.
Read-only
Saved scansReadings, codes and the VIN go to your account, so you can see your car's history.
With your account
Code explanationsThe AI gets only the code and your car's make, model and year.
Not tied to you
Adapter test logWhile we test adapters, their raw answers are kept to fix problems: car data only, never a place.
30 days
NeverThe adapter sends no location: when the engine stops, your phone saves the spot on the phone. We never sell your car data or share it with insurers.
Never

the QR badge

Both sides stay anonymous.

a random code

Never your name or plate

The badge holds a random code. You can switch it off any time.

ready-made

No free-text messages

Requests and answers are ready-made choices. Nobody can type to you.

nothing to sell

No ad trackers. Never sold.

No advertising or ad-tracking SDK in the app. Tester builds send crash reports and anonymous screen counts, with no account, device ID or location. We never sell your data.

how your data travels

Encrypted, and only to us.

on the way

Encrypted

Everything between your phone and Reachy travels encrypted (HTTPS).

one front door

Only our own address

The app talks only to our own address, and holds no database address or key.

our logs

Nothing about you in them

We keep no automatic log of every request, and our own logs never hold your IP address, what you sent or where you are. Like any website, our network provider keeps standard connection logs, such as the IP address, for a few days.

Apple Maps (iPhone) or Google Maps (Android)They draw the map, so they see the area you're looking at.

"Always", "While Using", or off

"Always" lets Reachy notice when you park. With "While Using" you save your car with a tap. Turn location off and Reachy gets none. Your phone enforces it.
